The Logical Traveller | Team sRide speaks

A traveler is a person of unlimited dreams, and all these dreams are lived through the journey he makes. The dreams of discovering new and exotic places, the dream of meeting new and interesting people and the bigger dream of making life’s journey worthwhile, is everything he cares about. While travelling should be on everyone’s list, budgeting plays a very important part too. You can’t manage frequent travels if you go all out splurging on one destination. Take it from team sRide, we travel a lot – sometimes for fun, sometimes for work and sometimes to meet you all! We always tell you why you need to carpool and talk about traffic, so we decided to share our personal travel handbook to show you we don’t just propagate a cause, but also keep up with it. So before you make the next trip, here are a few things to keep in mind to make it fun – not just for you, but also your bank balance! 1. Carry ample change Everyone carries their cards around, but carrying that much cash is just calling trouble. But you should always have ample change with you. In a place that you haven’t visited before, it is pointless to be relying on others to tend you change. Carry money in all denominations to be on the safer side! “Even though I was carrying sufficient tenners, that Rs 7 tea became nothing short of a life crisis.” Neha, travelled to Jaipur 2. Choose smart travelling If you’re on a budget trip or plan to splurge in some shopping from the destination, choose to travel...
11 Reasons Carpooling is Much More Than What You Thought

11 Reasons Carpooling is Much More Than What You Thought

Communities across the globe are brainstorming to find out newer and better ways of commuting. Blame it on the traffic or the increasing pollution – but Gen Y is actually becoming smarter. And what’s coming up as a growing trend is, “carpooling”. Here’s taking a look at why the trend is catching up! 1. Money Money my Honey The list begins with the most obvious and logical reason. When you carpool, you share travelling as well as fuel costs on the way. End the month with a loaded wallet and a smiling bank account, because you saved some greens by going green. *Smiles* 2. The Green League Here’s a shout-out to all those who ever fantasized about being a super-hero, even if it is only for a day. Join the International Green Brigade and contribute towards procuring our precious environment. Low emissions, more greenery, better life. Who’s up for it? 3. Be a Social Bee Let bees be our social inspiration because, why not! While you’re saving the world and some money, it is time to become the social bee you were back in school. Share a ride, meet new people and make new friends. After all sharing a few experiences is only going to reap you lifelong benefits – personally and professionally! 4. Don’t be a Slave Driver It is proven that driving is not everybody’s cup of tea. Most people don’t even like driving – they in fact wish to be a passenger and enjoy the view. Be that passenger if you are not much into peddle-pushing. Carpooling lets you have a seat and reach your place...
sRide celebrates World Car Free Day!

sRide celebrates World Car Free Day!

The world as we know is changing. And the pace of change is unmatchable. Concepts, trends and customs are all going through overhauling. Amidst all these social conventions, civic conventions are also taking the road to change. We live in a world, where people are working long hours and spending their lives to earn more and more money. All of this is cool, unless we keep the game stress free! But commuting to and from work in itself is a major stress and we, the people are finding ways to make it more efficient and stress free. The sad part? Not all of us are doing it! World Car Free Day is one such initiative, which is being observed on 22nd September every year, worldwide.  Individuals as well as civic bodies across the world are embracing the day and encouraging people to take a stand for the environment around them, that has been bearing the brunt of development till date. “The movement also encourages people in major cities to opt for alternate commute options like carpooling, cycling, walking or simply taking a public transport – the basic idea being lessening the number of cars on the road for at least a day.”  Why we are celebrating Car Free Day? Making our lives easy Even though it is just a day today, the idea of going car free or opting for alternate commute options will soon be a social phenomena. Imagine our lives in that time, and imagine the possibilities – roads with lesser traffic, environment that is less polluted and another platform to socialise with co-travellers.  Car Free Day...

sRide Brand Ambassador: Kapil Jain

Last week we announced our very first sRide Brand Ambassador: Rahul Basu, in our strive towards making carpooling a common practice in India. A lot many times it takes a person to inspire another – no number of articles or textbooks we read become the inspiration for really taking charge. The reason? Everyone’s too busy leading their ‘busy monotonous’ lives to the fullest, to care about environmental and resource causes for more than merely 5 minutes. But we’re happy to announce our next Brand Ambassador, who is creating ripples in his circles for being the man who didn’t just stand for a cause, but also made an impact! Kapil Jain.  Thinking why should someone be our Brand Ambassador? We have it all answered right here: sRide Brand Ambassador.  How do you start? sRide Brand Ambassador: Rahul Basu

Carpooling as a trend is catching up amongst the Indian youth, so much so that it is on its way to becoming the biggest social movement of all times! The trend is increasingly gaining popularity amongst the youth. The young professionals these days are seeking alternates to daily commutes to ease out their lifestyles. Be it for saving fuel and money, or making the ride less mundane by traveling with like minded people – carpooling has arrived but it still needs a slight nudge to get there! And that’s where we come in. sRide has been consistently supporting the core purpose of carpooling – making the cities clean, green and lessening the traffic. We encourage people to take part in the Car Free Thursday – Hyderabad every week and were also at the Hyderabad marathon registration to spread awareness, and award all those who helped us take the cause forward. Addressing everyone – even on social media – can be a really hard task, and that’s why we wanted people to help us convince ‘other people’ that carpooling was the way to go. Some call them the good Samaritans, we call then the sRide Brand Ambassador. And the Brand Ambassador of the week award goes to RAHUL BASU. Yes, he has been helping us spread our message for more than a month now. And has impacted a lot of his followers to take the same route! See what he did there? No. He didn’t make a hype around his name. He actually made a difference to the environment and the way professionals are commuting on a daily basis. He...
