sRide Carpool in Capgemini Annual Sustainability Report
We are excited to share that the sRide Carpool App has been highlighted in the Capgemini Group Environmental Sustainability Report 2017/2018 for its instrumental role in reducing Capgemini India’s business travel emissions.
The annual report showcases Capgemini’s environmental performance and the innovative strategies they’ve implemented to lower their carbon footprint. Among these initiatives, sRide has played a key part in helping Capgemini meet its sustainability goals.
sRide’s Impact
Since our partnership began, 37,000 Capgemini employees have embraced the sRide carpooling program, covering 10 million kilometers with sRide — that’s like completing 26 trips to the Moon! 🌍🚗 This effort has saved a remarkable 2 million tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to planting 15,000 trees! 🌱🌳
This recognition in Capgemini’s sustainability report underscores the impact sRide has had on their environmental initiatives, helping the company reduce its emissions per employee by 15% since 2015.
How It Works
In 2017, Capgemini and sRide teamed up to promote app-based ridesharing across key office locations in India. The response was overwhelming, with over 10,000 sign-ups in the first few weeks alone. Today, more than 37,000 Capgemini employees are actively using the sRide app for their commutes.
By choosing sRide, employees benefit from a cost-effective way to travel, with rates as low as Rs5/km, making it a cheaper alternative to traditional taxi services. Moreover, employees can choose to donate the proceeds from their rides to WeKare, a community charity supported by Capgemini.
As a result, Capgemini has become the largest user of the sRide app in the technology sector, showcasing their dedication to sustainability through both corporate and community-focused initiatives.
