Smart Cities is built By Smart Citizen

In today’s times where people wants change, people crib about pollution, traffic on roads and many more things, first we need to be the change what we desire to see in our cities. More fly overs , More under passes, wider roads … That’s all we keep asking for .. That’s what we feel is going to solve all the traffic problems but we couldn’t be more wrong. As more and more infrastructure is getting created, the need is also accelerating.

To Cater to this problem there was an event held by Smart Indian expo where one of the panel speaker was Lakshna Jha, cEO and Co-Founder of sRide Carpool. Smart City Expo focused on how smart cities and smart mobility is changing the commuting on daily basis. The discussion in the panel focused on how shared mobility is a better option compared to autonomous vehicles and how it is a much optimized options as compared to EV.

Lakshna Jha shared her views on the same, “creating new infrastructure takes time and cost and there is a limit to fast new infrastructure can be created. At the same time carpooling takes only a tap on a button and can be done instantly. The impact created by carpooling in order to reduce vehicles and pollution is very high without any investment done by either government or individuals.”

In 2018 alone, 3.2 million new Cars and 21 Million new 2 wheelers were added on the road. Inspite of the government’s best efforts and allotment of budgets, this will always be a losing race as the demand is growing much faster than the supply. Apart, 1 point none of us can ignore is that there is only so much space to make enough flyover or underpasses [not that they can be constructed at every street].

So where lies the solution?

Actually, the solution lies with us. We always keep asking “What is the country doing for us? Its time, we ask what are we doing for the country?”

If even 20% of the people starts Carpooling on daily basis (even during the peak hours), the traffic problem will get a huge resolution. The choice is with us. Are we ready to change ourself ?
